Hillsborough River State Park

Thonotosassa, Florida 33592
Join us for our third annual run in the woods. And, we've added a MARATHON DISTANCE to this year's event. So now you can choose from 26.2, 13.1 or 6.55 miles of beautiful Florida woods running! With a mix of pavement (just a little), forest roads, wide and single track trail, this run has it all--beautiful canopied forest roads, riverbank single track, and fast, flat woods running. Hillsborough River State Park--one of the state's oldest--provides great facilities for an awesome start/finish area and our post-race buffet.
WE'VE ADDED A MARATHON DISTANCE IN 2014--ANOTHER OPTION TO DARE GREATLY!!!
Choose how you DARE GREATLY:
MARATHON (26.2 MILES)
Start Time: 8:00 am
Course:
This run starts and finishes in Hillsborough River State Park. After short start on pavement, the run turns onto the Wetlands Restoration Trail, then the Old Fort King Trail. Racers follow the Old Fort King Trail to the turnaround aid station at US 301 for a scenic out and back. Once back to Dead River Road, racers turn south on this canopied park road. Where the road dead ends at the Hillsborough River, racers turn north on single-track trail until they run again into the Wetlands Restoration Trail. We're still working on the exact turnaround location (as we want the distance to be fairly accurate) where the marathoners will do a second lap of the half marathon course. Stay tuned.
While this run mixes a very little bit of pavement with forest roads, it also has a significant portion on trails--expect roots and ruts, mud and sand and rocks!
Pricing:
• $57 until June 5, 2014
• $67 until October 23, 2014
• $75 until Registration Closes Nov. 28

Do not expect your road running times to translate to trail running.
For example, your time for the Trail 10-Miler might be equivalent to your fast half marathon time.
Because of uneven terrain, softer surfaces, tight, twisty single track trails and hills, expect your times to be slower.
Plan your hydration and nutrition needs based on being on the course longer than you would be if it were a road race.
